Roughly fifty cars have been marked with what seems to be human blood in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Automobiles, exterior walls and mailboxes were defaced, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.
Law enforcement state they were alerted late on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish fluid.
The fluid had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Officers then found multiple other marked cars and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation banning the public display of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement report preliminary tests indicate the fluid was likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no clue as to its source; investigators are currently not informed of any physical harm in connection with the incident," they stated.
Local authorities stated they were working "to unravel the case" and have asked to the community for details.
An important official said the vandalism made him stunned and required to be resolved rapidly.
"This incident affects the core of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on social media, referring to the killing of nine victims by a assailant targeting individuals of migrant background in five years prior.
